SEEKS APPLICANTS FOR JOURNALISTS-IN-RESIDENCE PROGRAMME

The Freedom Forum is seeking applications from print and broadcast journalists for its International Journalists-in-Residence programme, which aims to promote better understanding of the principles of press freedom and the US media among foreign journalists. The programme, which lasts four to five months, includes journalism courses at a major university in a large US city. Participants also visit local media outlets and participate in lectures and seminars. It is open to journalists from Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, the former Soviet Union, Central America and South America. Applicants must be working journalists with at least two years of experience, but not more than ten, and have proficiency in written and spoken English. The application deadline is 31 August for programmes beginning in January 2002.
