IFJ LAUNCHES WEBSITE ON CORRUPTION FOR AFRICAN JOURNALISTS
African journalists investigating corruption issues now have a web-based resource that should make their jobs easier. The International Federation of Journalists' (IFJ) Media for Democracy in Africa program, with funding from the European Union, has recently launched a website "Promoting Accountability" (
www.ifj-pa.org) which provides African journalists with an online resource on corruption, transparency, political accountability and public access to government information.
The site posts news from international and African media, events and activities, and links to other resources. Summaries on the activities and publications of agencies such as the World Bank and International Monetary Fund, and non-governnmental organisations are also featured. In addition, the site will act as the centre of a member-based network of African journalists who wish to use it to exchange information and ideas on corruption issues.
