FREEDOM FORUM/ASNE EXCHANGE PROGRAMME SEEKS APPLICANTS

Experienced newspaper editors are encouraged to apply for the Freedom Forum/American Society of Newspaper Editors (ASNE) exchange program. Administered by the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ), the programme selects 10 newsroom managers of daily newspapers to visit the United States for a five-week exchange including four weeks at a host newspaper.

To be eligible, editors must be from outside Western Europe and North America and proficient in English. They should have at least five years of journalism experience and be currently employed by a daily newspaper. In addition, they have had no substantial previous travel to the United States and should be between 21 and 55 years old. Editors from emerging democratic countries are especially encouraged to apply.

The program covers round-trip international airfare, emergency medical insurance, hotel accommodations in New York and Washington, DC, local travelling expenses and a modest stipend. The deadline for applications is 1 June.
