IAPA CONTEST SEEKS BEST ESSAY ON PRESS FREEDOM

If the right to access government information is important to you, why not write about it? You might even win a prize. The Inter American Press Association (IAPA) is holding its 6th annual Chapultepec Essay Contest to raise awareness of press freedom and is looking for the best piece of writing describing the importance of access to public information to participants' lives. The essay must be no longer than 500 words and be received by 1 July.

The winner receives a cash prize of US$2,500 and an invitation to attend a special ceremony during IAPA's 59th General Assembly in Chicago in October. Anyone is eligible to enter the contest. IAPA established the competition in 1998 and has awarded prizes to winners from the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Costa Rica, Brazil and the United States.
