FRANCOPHONE JOURNALISTS INVITED TO APPLY FOR RSF-RFI JOURNALISM AWARDS


Reporters Without Borders (Reporters sans frontières, RSF) and Radio France International (RFI) are inviting journalists from French-speaking Africa to apply for the 2003 RFI-RSF journalism prize. Created three years ago, the annual prize honours excellence in the categories of radio, photography, cartoons and the printed press.

The competition is open to working journalists from the following countries: Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, the Central African Republic, Chad, Comores, Congo, Côte d'Ivoire, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Gabon, Guinea, Madagascar, Mali, Mauritius, Mauritanie, Niger, Rwanda, Senegal and Togo.

Applicants can obtain application forms at a French cultural centre in their country or visit the websites of RSF (
www.rsf.org) and RFI (
www.rfi.fr).

Applicants should submit one article, radio report, photograph or cartoon that has been published or produced between 1 June 2002 and 31 May 2003. The deadline for applications is 31 May.
