MISA INVITES NOMINATIONS FOR PRESS FREEDOM AWARD


The Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) is seeking nominations for its annual Press Freedom Award honouring the work of an individual or institution who has made a significant contribution to the promotion of press freedom in southern Africa.

The award carries a cash prize of US$ 1,000 and is open to journalists working in photography, print, video and the Internet.

The winner of the award will have contributed to press freedom through journalism or through other activities, including media reform, lobbying or training, and should be based in the Southern African region.

The deadline for receiving nominations is 16 June 2003.
