SAUDI ARABIA: PROTEST GOVERNMENT BAN ON JOURNALIST

9 March 2004

To mark International Women's Day on 8 March, the Writers in Prison Committee of International PEN (WiPC) invites you to write a letter to Saudi Arabian authorities urging them to lift the ban on leading journalist Wajeha Al-Huwaider. Al-Huwaider writes for the Arabic-language daily "Al-Watan" and the English-language daily "Arab News" and has been banned from publishing since August 2003. She is among a growing number of liberal and opposition journalists who have been banned from publishing in Saudi Arabia and harassed by authorities in recent months, WiPC says.

Full details of her case are available at: http://www.pen.org/freedom/women2004.htm
