COLOMBIA TO HOST REGIONAL COMMUNICATIONS CONFERENCE


Freedom of expression and democracy will be the central theme of the first Latin American Biennial Conference on Communications, which hopes to bring together more than 500 journalists and educators from the region in Cartagena, Colombia this September.

Organised by the Social Communication Programme at the University of Cartagena, the conference will take place from 22 to 24 September 2004. Topics for discussion include self-censorship, cultural journalism, education and citizenship. Participants are invited to submit papers of not more than 12 pages in length before 15 July.
