LIBRARIANS TO HOST CENSORSHIP CONFERENCE IN LATVIA

The International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) is co-hosting an international conference in Riga, Latvia, in October 2004 that will examine new forms of censorship that have arisen in the Internet era.

In partnership with the National Library of Latvia and UNESCO, IFLA is organising "Freedom of Expression, Censorship, Libraries in the Electronic Age." Topics to be discussed will include censorship in libraries, Internet censorship and terrorism.

Organisers of the conference are inviting librarians, information specialists and members of the public to attend. IFLA's Committee on Free Access to Information and Freedom of Expression is a member of IFEX.
