JOHN HUMPHREY FREEDOM AWARD

Rights and Democracy invites nominations for the 2005 John Humphrey Freedom Award, which honours an organisation or person who has made an outstanding contribution to the promotion of human rights and democratic development.

The prize is named in honour of John Peters Humphrey, a Canadian law professor who prepared the first draft of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

The winner of the award will receive a C$25,000 grant and will be taken on a speaking tour of Canadian cities to help increase awareness of their human rights work.

The deadline for nominations is 15 April 2005.
