BAYEUX-CALVADOS AWARD FOR WAR CORRESPONDENTS

Journalists and photographers around the world are invited to apply for the 2005 Bayeux-Calvados Awards, which honour excellence in war reporting.

The competition is open to reporters and photographers who work for media outlets or as freelancers.

There are four award categories - radio, television, print and photography.

Applicants should submit published articles or audio/visual work that describe the impact of armed conflict on civilian populations or involve the defence of human rights and democracy. Samples must be published between 1 June 2004 and 31 May 2005.

Award winners will be given a cash prize of 7,600 Euro (US$9,800) and a trophy.

Winners will be announced at a prize-giving ceremony in Bayeux, France, on 8 October 2005.

The deadline for applications is 5 June 2005.
