IFJ OFFERS CAMPAIGN TOOLKIT ON CRIMINAL DEFAMATION

The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) has produced a toolkit for journalists and press freedom advocates around the world who want to campaign against criminal defamation laws.

Available in English, French and Spanish, "Decriminalising Defamation: An IFJ Campaign Resource for Defeating Criminal Defamation" provides practical examples of how activists have successfully convinced governments to repeal repressive laws.

The toolkit contains background information on criminal defamation laws, international legal standards regarding defamation and freedom of expression, and useful resources and tips on how to mount a campaign.
