2005 REPORTING ON THE INFORMATION SOCIETY AWARDS

Panos London and the Global Knowledge Partnership are inviting journalists from developing countries and countries in transition to apply for the 2005 Reporting on the Information Society awards, which aim to encourage in-depth reporting on the impact of information and communication technologies on society.

This year, four awards of US $1,000 each will be given out for the best reporting on the theme "Where is the money for bridging the digital divide?" The winners will also be invited to participate in the World Summit on the Information Society in Tunis in November 2005.

Journalists working in print, radio, television and the Internet are eligible to apply. Previous award winners cannot apply. Applicants must submit a piece of work related to the award theme that was published or broadcast after 1 January 2005.

To submit a piece of work for consideration, send a clipping, audio or video tape, transcript or web reference by email to: PanosGKPawards@panos.org.uk or by post to Murali Shanmugavelan, Panos London, 9 White Lion Street, London N1 9PD, United Kingdom.

The deadline for submissions is 15 September 2005.
