The Arab Archives Institute is hosting an international conference in Jordan in November, where participants will discuss the formation of an advocacy group to defend and support journalists in the Arab region.

"Media Freedoms in the Arab World II" will be held from 30 November to 1 December 2005 in Amman. Participants will include prominent journalists, writers and media experts from Jordan, Syria, Egypt, the Gulf States, United Kingdom, Norway and Canada.

The conference agenda includes the launch of a study on the Jordan Press Association, presentations on censored cartoons and a tribute to slain Lebanese journalist Samir Kassir.
