WORLD ASSEMBLY TO BRING CIVIL SOCIETY TOGETHER
CIVICUS, the World Alliance for Citizen Participation, is holding its annual World Assembly in Glasgow, Scotland, on 21-25 June 2006, where civil society activists, academics and government representatives from around the globe will get a chance to exchange ideas, network and build strategies for a just world.
The World Assembly provides a platform for civil society organisations to interact and engage with government and intergovernmental organisations, and to reflect on the state of civil society around the world. This year's assembly focuses on four sub-themes: Civic Justice, Political Justice, Economic Justice and Social Justice.
CIVICUS is an international alliance established in 1993 to nurture the foundation, growth and protection of citizen action throughout the world, especially in areas where participatory democracy and citizens' freedom of association are threatened.
