SEAPA JOURNALISM FELLOWSHIP
The Southeast Asian Press Alliance (SEAPA) invites journalists from Southeast Asia to apply for the 2006 SEAPA Journalism Fellowship Programme, which gives journalists an opportunity to investigate social issues in other countries in the region. The theme of this year's programme is religion.
There are 12 fellowships available. Running from 1 May to 10 June, the programme begins with a three-day orientation seminar in Bangkok, after which each fellow will spend up to four weeks researching a story of their choice in another country.
During their month-long stay, each fellow will be in regular contact with designated editors and coordinators who will provide direction and guidance as they develop and write their stories. Following their research stint, fellows will return to Bangkok to present their research and share experiences.
Fellows are required to publish stories produced under the programme in their own country and may be asked to share these with other interested news organisations in other countries.
Applicants must have at least five years of experience in print or broadcast journalism, and have experience and interest in writing in-depth human interest stories on social issues in their countries.
Applicants should submit story proposals on this year's theme, a resume and two samples of their work. They should also submit two letters of reference, one of which should come from their editors.
Applications can be sent by email to seapa@seapabkk.org or faxed to +662 2448749.
The closing date for receiving applications is 10 March 2006.
