IJC TO OPEN JOURNALISM SCHOOL IN MOLDOVA

The Independent Journalism Center is getting ready to open the doors of a new school in Moldova in September that will aim to equip local budding reporters and editors with comprehensive skills in print and broadcast journalism.

The Chisinau School of Advanced Journalism opens on 4 September 2006, offering a one-year programme for Moldovans seeking practical training in print and broadcast reporting. Twenty students will be accepted every year, leading to a certificate signed by the IJC and the U.S.-based Missouri School of Journalism.

The teaching staff of the School will comprise leading Moldovan journalists and trainers, and foreign experts. The curricula will include month-long courses in News Reporting, Broadcast Reporting, Media Law and Ethics and shorter courses in Online Reporting, Computer Assisted Reporting, Business and Economic Reporting, Photojournalism, Media Management, Visual Journalism and others.
