RADIO FOR PEACE BUILDING AFRICA AWARDS


African journalists working in radio are encouraged to apply for the 2006 Radio for Peace Building Africa Awards, which honour radio programmes that contribute to peace on the continent.

The award jury will be looking for programmes that help reduce conflict in communities, enhance shared interests, break down stereotypes and provide positive role models.

Four prizes will be awarded in each of three categories: drama, talk shows and youth radio. Winners of the top prize each receive Euros 800 (US$1,000), while finalists each receive Euro 300 (USS$385). Entries must be in either English or French, and have been broadcast in Africa in 2005 or 2006.

The deadline for entries is 30 September 2006.
