KNIGHT FOUNDATION OFFERS GRANTS FOR NEW MEDIA PROJECTS


The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation is seeking project proposals and ideas from journalists from all countries as part of a new grant programme that supports the use of new technologies to improve communication and quality of life in local communities.

The 21st Century News Challenge will fund projects that use the Internet in innovative ways to report the news or facilitate connections between citizens. Up to US$5 million in grants will be awarded in 2007. Any person of any age from any country can enter.

The deadline for submitting applications is 31 December 2006.
