PARIS CONFERENCE EYES NEW MEDIA AND PRESS FREEDOM

The World Press Freedom Committee, the World Association of Newspapers and UNESCO will be co-hosting a conference in Paris from 15 to 16 February 2007 to examine the challenges and opportunities for press freedom posed by new media.

The conference will bring together free expression activists, academic scholars, journalists and Internet consultants to discuss such issues as direct satellite broadcasting and digital television, citizen journalism, Internet censorship, online media in emerging democracies, and how youth get their news.
