IAPA CONFERENCE TACKLES IMPUNITY IN DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

The Inter American Press Association (IAPA) is holding a conference in the Dominican Republic from 18 to 20 July 2007 that will bring together the country's top judges and members of the press to discuss ways of battling the impunity surrounding crimes against journalists.

Entitled "Hemisphere Conference: The Judiciary, The Press, Impunity," the conference is organised by IAPA and the Supreme Court of Justice, and will take place in Santo Domingo.

The conference is part of IAPA's Anti-Impunity project that aims to pressure governments in the Americas to bring to justice those who murder journalists.
