SOUTHEAST ASIA MEDIA DEFENCE PROGRAMME

The Southeast Asian Press Alliance (SEAPA), along with Oxford University, the International Bar Association and the University of Hong Kong, is organising a conference from 21 to 23 May in Hong Kong that will train Southeast Asian lawyers in the field of media defence and strengthen media freedom in the region.

Workshops include examining national laws on media freedom, how to defend against defamation claims, and how and when to challenge the constitutionality of a law.

The intention is to see participants engage in legal defence work in their respective countries and help train local lawyers to the same end.
