NOMINATIONS WANTED FOR "ORLANDO SIERRA" PRIZE OF COURAGE 2007

The Foundation for Press Freedom (Fundación para la Libertad de Prensa, FLIP), "Semana" magazine and Petrobras are looking for nominations for the "Orlando Sierra" Prize, awarded to a Colombian journalist or organisation that demonstrates outstanding courage while working in risky and often difficult circumstances.

The prize, as part of the Semana-Petrobras journalism awards that honour the best stories on Colombia told from a regional perspective, is given in honour of Orlando Sierra, deputy director of "La Patriá" newspaper, who was well-known for his column that criticised local corruption. He was killed by hitmen in 2002.

The winner will receive 15 million Pesos (US$7,635).

Nominations accompanied by a letter highlighting the nominee's successes over the past two years and a sample of work should be sent to "Semana" by 20 July 2007.
