IPI WORLD CONGRESS TO CONVENE IN BELGRADE

More than 500 media professionals are expected to meet in political hotspot Belgrade, Serbia for the International Press Institute's (IPI) annual World Congress and General Assembly, from 14 to 17 June 2008.

Participants will tackle some of the burning press freedom issues of this century, including the challenges of reporting in South East Europe across borders, cultures and religions; new opportunities and new threats to new media, as witnessed in Burma; how to report America; and the media's role in fostering reconciliation in conflict areas.

IPI's "Free Media Pioneer" for 2008 will be announced at the closing ceremony.
