LONDON CONFERENCE TO DISCUSS REFUGEE ACADEMIC FREEDOM

Address the challenges that face refugee academics at a conference at the British Academy in London, U.K. on 4-5 December, organised by the Council for Assisting Refugee Academics (CARA).

"In Defence of Learning: The Past and the Present" looks at the challenges that face refugee academics in the 21st century and the organisations that have worked to assist them.

Don't miss the keynote lecture, "Nazi persecution - Britain's gift", on 3 December, or "A Conversazione" on 4 December, in which threatened academics from Sudan, Iraq, Algeria, Kurdistan and Iran will discuss and provide illustrations of the right to free inquiry and academic freedom.

The conference is the final event in CARA's 75th anniversary year.
