Azeri, Georgian Journalists Form Investigative Network

Investigative journalists from Azerbaijan and Georgia have launched a new initiative aimed at using cross-border collaborations to expose human trafficking, corruption and other pressing issues in the region.

The Caucasus Media Investigation Center (CMIC) aims to support joint investigations into human trafficking, narcotics and corruption; encourage better investigative reporting through award competitions and seminars; and act as a resource for foreign media.

CMIC emerged out of a series of training programmes held in 2003 and 2004 by the U.S.-based International Center for Journalists (ICFJ). The new organisation is currently applying to several donor organisations to help fund the project.

For further information, contact Anar Orujov, CMIC Director: anar_orujov@yahoo.com or caucasusmedia@yahoo.com; Telephone: + 994 12 441 74 79 or + 994 50 319 20 79.
