(MFWA/IFEX) - Sam S K Le Jah, a presenter with Ouaga FM, a private radio station in Ouaga 2000, a suburb of Ouagadougou, escaped death on 28 September 2007, when his car parked outside the station caught fire and was completely destroyed.

A Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) correspondent reported that although the causes of the fire remain unknown as investigations are still ongoing, Le Jah said the incident was an attempt on his life. The seats and engine of the car were said to have been consumed by the flames.

In April, Le Jah received death threats for allegedly criticising the administration of President Blaise Compaore (see IFEX alert of 26 April 2007).
