(CESO-IFJ/IFEX) - "La Verdad" magazine director Pedro Antonio Cárdenas, whose daughter was the target of an attempted kidnapping on 24 October 2007, received another death threat on 29 October at 10:49 a.m (local time). A male voice told him to remember that both Cárdenas and his family were military targets. This is the fourth death threat that the journalist has received in October.

In a separate development, an angry mob questioning the results of the 28 October municipal elections violently attacked the campaign headquarters of mayor-elect Gido Germán Caicedo in Pradera, Valle department, on 28 and 29 October. Journalist Enoc Romero, who is the mayor-elect's press chief and also hosts a news programme broadcast by radio station Cañaveral Estéreo in Pradera, was therefore unable to leave the campaign headquarters and had to conduct his programme by telephone from the headquarters itself.
