CROATIAN LIBRARIANS PROMOTE ACCESS TO INFORMATION

To mark Human Rights Day on 10 December, the Croatian Library Association Committee for Freedom of Expression and Free Access to Information is hosting its third annual round table discussion in Zagreb on improving public access to library services.

Preliminary research indicates that some sectors of society, including disabled people, minority ethnic groups and the blind, have been deprived of adequate library services, the committee says.

The discussion will seek to raise awareness among librarians of the special needs of these groups so that they can have equal access to free information provided by public libraries.

The committee is affiliated with the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions' Committee on Free Access to Information and Freedom of Expression (IFLA/FAIFE), an IFEX member.
