In the latest in a series of actions against the "Afrika" newspaper, police forcibly entered the publication's premises and removed a banner hanging from its balcony.
A gunman tried to enter the offices of "Afrika" newspaper, shot at editor Ali Osman and threatened the life of journalist and publisher Sener Levent.
Journalists reporting on the violent dispersal of a protest in North Nicosia were beaten and their cameras were broken.

(RSF/IFEX) - RSF has condemned an attack on the offices of the daily "Kibris" during the night of 6 to 7 May 2004. Three separate bombs exploded in front of the newspaper's offices, which are located in Nicosia, in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, which is recognised only by Turkey. No one was injured in the attack.
