RSF OPENS REFUGE FOR EXILED JOURNALISTS

Journalists forced into exile in France because of their work now have a temporary refuge upon arrival in Paris, thanks to Reporters Without Borders (Reporters sans frontières, RSF) and 20 media companies and organisations.

The Journalist's Centre (La Maison des journalistes) has opened a new wing, providing 15 beds for journalists who are in need of accommodation while they apply for refugee status.

Journalists who have suffered persecution in their countries and lack financial resources are eligible to apply for residence, which will be limited to six months - the period required to obtain refugee status in France. Each journalist will be sponsored by one of the 20 organisations.
