FXI, MISA TO PARTICIPATE IN SEMINAR ON INFORMATION SOCIETY SUMMIT

Freedom of Expression Institute (FXI) and the Media Institute for Southern Africa (MISA) will be participating in a public seminar in Johannesburg, South Africa, on 30 July aimed at preparing media activists and journalists for the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS), reports Sangonet.

The seminar aims to provide an opportunity for South African activists to develop an understanding of the WSIS and related processes, and to discuss the position of the South African government and of civil society. It will also bring organisations together to develop campaigns and lobbying strategies for the upcoming WSIS preparatory conference to be held in Geneva, Switzerland, from 15 to 26 September.

Other participants in the seminar will include National Community Radio Forum, Link Centre at Wits University, Association for Progressive Communications and WomensNet.
