MISA LAUNCHES NEW HANDBOOK ON MEDIA LAW IN SOUTHERN AFRICA

The Media Institute for Southern Africa (MISA) and the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) have published a new handbook on media laws in Botswana, Swaziland and Zambia, enabling journalists and press freedom advocates to better understand the conditions
under which media function in these countries.
"SADC Media Law: A Handbook for Media Practitioners Volume 2" is a comparative survey of laws impacting media freedom and freedom of expression in the three countries. It examines important legal cases involving media and analyses journalistic codes of conduct that have been established in each country.

Interviews with broadcast and print journalists also show how laws and regulations have affected freedom of expression in practice.

The handbook is the second in a series devoted to mapping out the legal landscape media laws in Southern Africa. The first volume surveyed media laws in Malawi, Namibia, South Africa and Zimbabwe.

The book can be downloaded from the KAS website: http://www.kasmedia.org/
