WAN-IFRA seeks Deputy Director of Press Freedom and Media Development

The World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) is looking for a Deputy Director of Press Freedom and Media Development.

Under the supervision of the Director, the Deputy will monitor and provide expert advice on press freedom issues and assist in the design and implementation of campaigns, actions and programmes directed at advancing a free, independent press worldwide.

Candidates must have experience in the field of press freedom and a solid understanding of violations to this right throughout the world. Analytical and writing skills are essential, as well as the ability to work independently and under tight deadlines. Experience in project management is essential. Fluency in English is required; knowledge of French is highly desirable.

The position is based in Paris and begins January 2010.
