Nominations are being accepted for the UNESCO/Guillermo Cano World Press Freedom Prize, which seeks "to honour a person, organisation or institution that has made a notable contribution to the defence and/or promotion of press freedom anywhere in the world, especially if this involved risk."

This year's prize will be awarded in Australia, during the World Press Freedom Day event in May. The winner will be presented with US$25,000.

The prize is in honour of Guillermo Cano Isaza, a Colombian journalist who was assassinated in 1986.

Deadline: 15 February 2010.
