Call For Candidates for Bayeux-Calvados War Correspondents Awards

War correspondents and photographers from all over the world are invited to apply for the Bayeux-Calvados War Correspondents Prize, which honours journalists who risk their lives in the world's hotspots to cover the news.

The deadline for nominations is 7 June 2010.

The prize carries four cash awards of 7,600 Euro (@US$10,000) each in the categories of television, radio, print and photography.

Four special awards, worth 3,000 to 3,800 Euros (@US$4,000-$5,000) each, are also up for grabs, including a Young Reporter Prize for journalists under 28 years old.

The entry should report on a conflict and its consequences for the civil population, or an event concerning the defence of press freedom and democracy, and must have been published between 1 June 2009 and 31 May 2010.
