The Iranian regime views any expression of dissent as opposition that must be controlled, with tighter controls on mass communication, bans on foreign press and deadly responses to peaceful protest, says ARTICLE 19. Opposition publications are routinely muzzled

In response, ARTICLE 19 launched an interactive website on Human Rights Day to facilitate networking among bloggers, journalists and activists in Iran. Azad Tribune will host articles from writers based in and outside Iran, offering a space for debate and plural views. It will be a resource for information and a tool to campaign against censorship in Iran, says ARTICLE 19.
