Journalistic Freedoms Observatory honours Iraqis covering corruption

The Journalistic Freedoms Observatory (JFO) has honoured four Iraqi journalists with its Press Courage Award in order to support freedom of expression.

Journalist Emad Al-Abaadi wrote about financial violations linked to three Iraqi presidents. He survived an assassination attempt last month immediately after publishing the piece.

Reporter Ala'a Al-Rubai'e was honoured for revealing the issue of fake university degrees.

Journalist Othman Al-Mukhtar was recognised for writing about financial and administrative corruption in Al-Anbar province, despite being under threat.

Ahmed Arram received the award for uncovering documents connected to the exploitation of land on the banks of the Tigris River by Iraqi government officials.
