PRESS UNION REVIVES MONTHLY MAGAZINE

"Media Line", the monthly publication of the Press Union of Liberia (PUL), has returned to newsstands after a three-year absence. With the release of its November issue, the publication resumes its task of "keeping watch on the watchdogs" and "promoting the welfare of journalists in terms of better salaries and working conditions."

Among its many stories this month is a report on a media project that promotes conflict resolution and peace-building work in Liberia. Supported by London-based International Alert and local groups PUL and the Centre for Justice and Peace Studies, the International Alert Partners Media Project employs Western and traditional communication methods to train community leaders. Several workshops have been held in the capital Monrovia and in Gbarnga since the project was launched in 2000.
