Dutch Donor to Manage Serbia Media Fund

18 April 2006

The Dutch media support agency Press Now will be launching a call for proposals in May 2006 for media assistance projects in Serbia and Montenegro. Recently, it secured a two-year contract to manage a Euro 2 million Media Fund set up by the European Agency for Reconstruction.

The Fund aims to support the development of independent media and to improve the quality of investigative reporting, programming and media education in the country.

Since its founding in 1993, Press Now has supported more than 100 media development projects in Eastern Europe and the Balkans. It says independent media outlets that practice journalism according to international standards can help strengthen emerging democracies.
