FNJ DOCUMENTS PRESS FREEDOM VIOLATIONS IN NEPAL

The Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ) has released a new report documenting how press freedom suffered in the last year under the authoritarian rule of King Gyanendra.

"Nepalese Media Under Royal Regime" covers the period between the royal coup in February 2005 and the launch of massive nation-wide protests against the King in February 2006. It details press freedom violations in each of Nepal's six regions, including cases of journalists killed, threatened, detained, and detained, and media outlets closed.
