(CEHURDES/IFEX) - Kantipur Publications's vehicle was attacked and vandalized by MPRF (Madhesi People's Rights Forum) cadres on 8 March 2007 in Duhabi Bazaar, Sunsari, an eastern district of Nepal.

Kantipur staffers Gangaram Bhandari and Ghanashyam Adhikari and the driver of the vehicle, Amar Bahadur Magar, sustained injuries from the attack. They were hit with beer bottles and stones on the drive back to the eastern town of Biratnagar after dispatching copies of the "Kathmandu Post" and "Kantipur" in Rautahat district.

According to the "Kathmandu Post", the cadres also threatened to "cut them into pieces if the publications did not carry their news in the Friday issue."

FNJ condemned the attack, and urged the MPRF to publicly apologize for the incident and to provide compensation to the victims.
