(IFEX's partner in Nigeria/IFEX) - On 8 May, Biodun Ogunleye, a
photojournalist for "Vanguard", was brutalized by security officers at the
Lagos State military administrator’s residence in Lagos. Ogunleye was on
assignment in Marina, Lagos Island to photograph the NICON building when he
was attacked by the officers and driven to the administrator’s residence.
Once there, the officers beat him severely, damaged his camera, and left him
unconscious in a pool of blood. Ogunleye regained consciousness about two
hours later and was rushed to hospital by sympathizers.
