(MADA/IFEX) - 19 March 2010 - The Palestinian Center for Development and Media Freedoms (MADA) strongly condemns the attack on Palestine TV correspondent Haroon Amayreh and cameraman Najib Sharoneh today in Bidros village, near Ramallah.

Amayreh said that he went today with his colleague Sharoneh to Bidros village, west of Ramallah, to prepare a report. While they were working, Israeli forces approached them, violently assaulted them and pushed them towards a nearby sewage basin, and then searched the press material they had. The officers released them after about three and a half hours.

MADA calls on the international community to stand by the Palestinian journalists to halt attacks on them, which are a flagrant violation of international conventions and of freedom of expression.
