Journalist receives death threat for criticising local politician

(IPYS/IFEX) - On 17 September 2007, three unidentified men came to journalist Gudelia Gálvez Tafur's front door and threatened to kill her and harm her family if she continued criticising Ancash's regional president, César Álvarez Aguilar. The incident occurred in the city of Huaraz, northwestern Peru.
Gálvez is the host of the "Alpamayo Noticias" programme, broadcast on Radio Alpamayo, and director of the Huaraz Noticias website.
The journalist filed a complaint at the local police station and has asked the Huaraz administration for protection.
