(IPYS/IFEX) - On 26 May 2009, as the official was leaving a court room where he had been summoned on a suit filed against him for abuse of authority. The incident took place in Chimbote, Ancash region, northwestern Peru.

The journalist told IPYS that the official hit him in the face and threatened to kill him. The penitentiary's director was accused by two inmates of having been physically abused by him because they refused to pay "quotas" inside the prison.

Rivas told IPYS that he will file a complaint against the director for causing him bodily harm.
