CMFR LAUNCHES REVAMPED JOURNALISM REVIEW
The Philippines' only media monitoring publication, the "Philippine Journalism Review", has a new name and image to reflect the changing times. Published by the Center for Media Freedom and Responsibility's (CMFR), "PJR Reports" comes in a new broadsheet-style format that is more visually dynamic and accessible to readers.
Like its predecessor, "PJR Reports" provides the public with an important tool with which to monitor democracy through its bi-monthly assessments of media and press freedom in the country.
"Eighteen years after People Power liberated the press and media from government control, we have to ask how [the media] have done their job, and the only way to do so is through a systematic monitor for accuracy, context, fairness and balance," says publisher Melinda Quintos de Jesus.
The revamped publication monitors libel actions against the media, attacks on journalists, international press freedom news and contains analytical reports on media coverage of national stories.
