Frankfurt Book Fair: An Apology

In an IFJ press statement on September 23, it was suggested that the Frankfurt Book Fair had invited a Russian journalist to speak at an official Book Fair event that was later withdrawn. We have been asked to point out that the Book Fair itself was not directly involved in this affair and we apologise for any confusion caused. The journalist, Anna Politkovskaja, will now attend the book fair participating in an event on October 11, from 14:00 - 15:30. This event will be an International Forum titled "The War in the Shadow" and will involve Anna Politkovskaja, Aleksandr Tscherkassow, Michail Ryklin, Florian Hassel and Ralf Fücks.

The IFJ represents over 500,000 journalists in more than 100 countries.
