IFJ, CPJ PUBLISH ARABIC VERSIONS OF JOURNALIST SAFETY MANUALS
The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) and the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) have produced Arabic language versions of their journalist safety manuals, enabling more journalists in the Arab world to learn how to report more safely in conflict zones.
IFJ has launched an Iraqi edition of its safety manual "Live News in Arabic", which provides tips for reporting in hostile situations, administering emergency medical aid, dealing with hostage-taking incidents and confronting post-traumatic stress.
The Arabic-language edition is part of a special safety package IFJ has produced for Iraqi journalists, which includes first aid kits and a CD-Rom guide to security and protection for media staff.
CPJ has released an Arabic language version of its journalist security handbook "On Assignment: A Guide to Reporting in Dangerous Situations". The new edition updates the material in CPJ's handbook, first published in 2003, and addresses issues of particular concern to journalists in the Arab world.
It provides a comprehensive overview of security issues, as well as resources and practical information on topics ranging from training and insurance to body armour and the rules of war.
