The IFEX Staff Team

The IFEX staff team, based in Toronto, Canada, runs the day to day operations of the network and is managed by founding member organisation Canadian Journalists for Free Expression (CJFE).

The four main areas of work for the staff are: Information and Awareness Raising; Campaigning and Advocacy; Network Development; and Institutional Strengthening and Sustainability.

  • The Information and Awareness team is responsible for the IFEX website, on-line publications, special reports, and all other IFEX communications materials, both print and digital. They work with the membership to create freedom of information materials that engage wider audiences and make better use of new technologies.
  • The Campaigning and Advocacy team develops campaigns and strategies that support and build on the actions of individual IFEX members and regional networks. In collaboration with the IFEX network, they build powerful and creative campaigns and maximise their potential through the use of digital and multimedia materials and social networking.
  • The Network Development team supports IFEX members, regional networks, and the IFEX network as a whole. This is accomplished through workshops, resources, peer networking, new member outreach, and surveys, as well as through meetings of regional networks, the IFEX Council, and the biannual General Meeting of all IFEX members.
  • The Institutional Strengthening and Sustainability team ensures the long-term viability of IFEX through a strong membership, donor relations, and regular monitoring and evaluating of IFEX programmes to ensure they are on target.
